[NFxNY] — Nepali Filmmakers of New York
[NFxNY] is a ‘for artists, by artists’ support community, built on a deep love for art, film, culture, and our people. It is fueled by a shared passion for storytelling, mutual support, and the belief in creating a sacred space for Nepali filmmakers, creators, and art makers.
We are committed to preserving, showcasing, and revalorizing our cultural identity, our language, our roots, our geography, and the ancestral stories that have shaped us. Simultaneously, we resist the lingering grip of cultural imperialism and the quiet persistence of shadow colonialism that still haunts us.
It’s unfortunate that there is no foundation for Nepali artists and filmmakers like us in the U.S. We deem it our collective responsibility to build that foundation ourselves. At our core, we aim to create a strong, supportive space for Nepali filmmakers and artists, one where everyone can learn, grow, and uplift one another on shared ground.
We aim to become a home for Nepali artists who have immigrated to the U.S., especially those who feel disoriented, unseen, and without a place to turn.
We strive to be a sanctuary for any artist seeking community, support, or guidance to move forward in their artistic journey in the U.S.
[NFxNY] is built on the principles of love, inclusivity, and acceptance. We embrace individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of caste, race, gender, sexual orientation, financial situation, or any other aspect of identity. Here, every voice is valued, every perspective is respected, and every storyteller is celebrated.
We invite artists from all walks of life to be part of this journey, to grow, create, and rise together.
